The naming ceremony of Polarcus Nadia and Polarcus Naila for shipowner Polarcus took place at Drydocks World Dubai November 24.
In 2008, the offshore shipowner Polarcus ordered six seismic vessels of Ulstein-design. Hull no 66 Polarcus Nadia and hull no 67 Polarcus Naila are the first two, and were named together on November 24. They are to be delivered in 2009 and 2010. Both will be fitted with a 3D seismic system and 12 streamer winches. Polarcus Nadia is due to commence operating in December this year on its first assignment with TGS for a 2,000 sq. km long-offset 3D survey.
“Norway has a complete and expert environment in the seismic and offshore vessels segment. We believe in the ULSTEIN X-BOW® concept, especially when it comes to the environment. We also want the ship’s crew to have good and safe working conditions, and we believe this design helps meet such requirements,” says Polarcus´s executive VP Peter Zickerman.
EQUIPMENT PACKAGE Ulstein Group delivers comprehensive design and main equipment packages for the six vessels, and also produces and delivers main switchboards, bridge and control room consoles. The vessels will be equipped with an integrated automation system (ULSTEIN IAS®), a communication and infotainment system (ULSTEIN COM®), navigation system (ULSTEIN NAV) and power management system (ULSTEIN PMS).
